The Airbnb Changeover Checklist: A Host’s Guide

A changeover is the short window between one guest leaving and the next arriving. Michelle runs Airbnb properties in Preston, and this is the order of work that keeps changeovers calm and consistent.

1. Strip and start the laundry

Strip beds and gather towels first, so the washing can run while you clean everything else.

2. Check for damage and lost property

Walk through every room before cleaning. Note any damage, missing items or things guests have left behind, and photograph anything you may need to report.

3. Kitchen reset

Dishes washed, dried and put back in their usual places
Fridge emptied of guest food and wiped
Hob, microwave, kettle and coffee machine cleaned
Worktops, sink and cupboard fronts wiped
Essentials restocked (tea, coffee, washing-up liquid, bin bags)

4. Bathroom

Toilet, basin, bath or shower cleaned and sanitised
Mirrors and taps polished, hair removed from plugholes
Fresh towels and toiletries out, toilet roll stocked

5. Beds made to hotel standard

Fresh linen, tight corners, plumped pillows and a neat fold of towels. It’s often the first thing guests photograph.

6. Dust, vacuum, mop

Work top to bottom: surfaces and shelves first, then floors last, finishing at the door.

7. Final guest-ready walk-through

Heating set, lights working, blinds and curtains neat
Remote controls, Wi-Fi details and house guide in place
Bins emptied and the entrance swept
